Client: User Experience Design program, Faculty of IT and Design at The Hague University of Applied Sciences

Given assignment by faculty lecturers to research how to redesign the current study space while also stimulating cooperation between students and improving the feeling of relatedness. The techniques used were ethnographic research and co-creation sessions.

Deliverables: Research report with behavioral research and design directions on what and how to improve in the study space

1. Set-up:

Conducted 2 main UX co-creation session with other students from the faculty and related programs in order to find out trends in their behavior and the way the new

Used methods for the sessions:

The idea here in the team we wanted to conduct 2 sessions to find insights about our 3 research goals. That's why we pciked a nice mix between collaborative and explorative methods to gain interesting insights about student's behaviour.

We had to have the sessions online so that's why we mainly used Miro as a collabarative tool to further our insights. We used analytical tools like spreadsheets to help us navigate which method to use.

A lot of participants gave us interesting insights about how the students thinks and feels.  The session was also a training in my skills as a facilitator and a guide through the methods. These sessions developed furthermore my research ability as before I had done mainly interviews and ethnography but with these sessions, more insights were gathered and the gained knowledge was stronger because of having so many participants give their insights.

Can't share everything from our research and methods but here is an example of how one of the methods looked like as a result and the learnings my team had when reflecting on the method.

3. Insights:

To gather all the notes into insights we used traditional method to highlight the insights most interesting and most useful for our goals. The results at the end was a report consisting of all the important insights we found as weill as the most promising ideas gained from the students to improve the study space. It was filled with actioanble and concrete steps to make the space better and more suitable for students as well as reccommnedations on what new functions to implement there.
